Rag Quilt

Here are a couple of pictures of the new rag quilt I have been working on.

I love taking my mom to the fabric store with me because she loves helping me pick out fabric.

I just think that the squares look so pretty from this angle.

That's my cat, Nova, bird-watching in the background.
I've been binding this quilt this past week and working on the label. I can't wait to show you the finished product! Another post will come soon. Stay tuned.

A Quilt for Kodi

I've decided that I'm in love with this quilt.
I love the pattern, the colors, the couple who received it, everything.
My lovely mom helped me choose the beautiful fabrics to use for this quilt and we are both extremely happy with how it turned out.
I hand embroidered the label and hand quilted the whole quilt, myself.
My oldest cousin is having her first child in August of this year. I wanted to make something special that I knew she, her husband, and their new daughter could enjoy for years to come.
I think that there is something oh-so-very special about a handmade gift.
Unfortunately I was out of town for the baby shower (both, in fact) and could not give her the gift myself. My younger sister and mom were both kind enough to record the opening of the quilt at the shower.
She cried! My cousin and her husband love this quilt and I could not have asked for a better reaction! You can view her photography blog here (She has pictures of her pregnancy and I'm sure pictures of Kodi to come)!
This lovely quilt pattern is from a quilt-along I found on a blog entitled Sing All You Want.
She calls it The Arrow Tail Quilt.
There is a Flickr group with pictures of quilts made from this pattern here.
